Indiana’s 3 Floyds Brewing Co. is doubling the size of their brewery, and including a no doubt badass distillery (which Dogfish got on over a decade ago). “We don’t really have competition. We make what we make, and can’t make enough of it,” says founder Nick Floyd. 3 Floyds is a great example of a brewery with extreme marketing done solely through their branding and art. I hope to visit this adult playground of a brewery one day, and I know they’ll have a large barrel aged selection by then. Ah, beer nerds in their element.
Today Vice released a video in which Sam Calagione, one of my favourite people in the beer world, takes us on a tour of the Dogfish Head brewery and pub in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. I’m drooling over “the biggest wooden brewing vessels built in America since before prohibition” and those stills! Enjoy.
This Halloween my friend Wilson and I did sugar skulls in honour of Día de Muertos. Naturally, I brought craft beer featuring beautiful skulls. This bottle of Motley Cru 2015, a Sour Red Ale Aged in Barrels with Ontario Pinot Noir Grapes, has been aging since March (not to mention this blend had already been aged 1-3 years), and it is rich winey perfection right now. I wish I had ten more! Photo from my Instagram.
